Waste Management helps reduce disposal and recycling expenses through our unique and systematic process that incorporates procurement savings, right-sizing, load monitoring, equipment optimization, recycling and landfill diversion.
Right-sizing is our process for optimizing scheduled collection services through metrics we create based on client business volume indicators such as store sales revenue, hotel room counts, square footage, etc. Waste Management applies these normalized metrics to stores, hotels and factories to analyze how well services are matched to the needs of each individual location or tiers of locations, depending on the nature of the client. From this, we create performance benchmarks that guide service restructuring either through schedule or container size revisions. These revisions are proposed to the client along with the associated expense reductions for client approval. Upon client approval, Waste Management and client partner to implement the revisions and realize the savings.
Acknowledging the dynamic nature of our client businesses, we incorporate seasonal variations into the client specific right-sizing models, to insure that services remain optimized throughout known business cycles. As right-sizing is part of our continuous improvement process, the process is reiterated whenever we implement other initiatives such as recycling new materials or when advised by the client of a significant change in business volumes.
